The Beginning of The Shave Cave: Where Modern Masculinity Meets Elevated Grooming
In the heart of St. Petersburg, where the charm of yesteryears meets the vibrancy of today, a barbering haven for the modern man emerges. The Shave Cave, crafted from a bold vision to revolutionize grooming, stands as a fortress of rugged luxury and unrivaled refinement.
A Barbering Vision To Rock St. Petersburg
It all began with a simple yet profound realization: the modern man deserves grooming products that epitomize both quality and accessibility. Thus, Men's Direct was conceived by my brother and me, an online store offering premium grooming essentials to gentlemen far and wide. But as the demand grew, so did the desire to create a place where men could receive top notch treatments and kick back. St. Pete was missing a high-end barber shop, and we were ready to deliver.
We found a great location at the Sundial right in downtown. As we started to build out, we discovered that the name Men's Direct was not going to work due to the fact that another business had a similar name, a jewelry store called Diamonds Direct. So we came up with The Shave Cave, which if you ask me sounds perfect. Everything happens for a reason right?
We quickly out grew the Sundial location, and needed to expand. Unfortunately Sundial didn't have enough space to house the buildout that we needed to handle our growth. But as luck would have it, space opened up directly east across the street, and the rest is history.
What Makes The Shave Cave Shine in St. Petersburg
Before there was a barber shop, there was only an idea, and as the brainchild of a family endeavor, The Shave Cave evolved from humble beginnings. From the digital realm to brick and mortar, the transition marked the dawn of a new era in St. Pete grooming. With our specific aesthetic in mind, we were able to sculpt a sanctuary unlike any other, merging elegance with raw masculinity to craft an experience that transcends the ordinary. The Shave Cave was born, a barbershop that was first of its kind found anywhere in Downtown St. Petersburg.

At The Shave Cave, barbering isn't just a profession; it's a way of life. As the official barber of the Tampa Bay Rowdies, we're deeply ingrained in the fabric of this city. From the sidelines of the soccer field, our shears sculpt the hair of champions. We extend a 10% discount to all military and first responders. We can't thank them enough for their sacrifices. Our barbers all have their own stories regarding what brought them here, and how they each give back in their own way to the community.
More Hotspots Around the Burg
There is so much to do in the entire St. Petersburg area. I absolutely love St. Pete Pier and all of the activities that is offers. The Spa Beach and Splash Pad are great spots for families to enjoy the sun. It also houses some restaurants and bars that are pretty unique. I also like riding my bike on the Pinellas Trail. Easy to hop on and off and get you anywhere in Pinellas County.
St. Pete has countless museums, festivals, and free attractions that pop up in the neighborhood. The James Museum has a really a unique collection that focuses on American History and Natural Habitats. The Museum of Fine Arts is right on the water, and The Dali is just really a really cool setup. In fact, the back of the Dali happens to be part of the track to my favorite event that happens once a year here, and that is The Grand Prix! I get to watch part of the races from my office window, and you can hear the roar of these cars all over the city. Another event is the Festival of Speed held in/at the Vinoy Park. You can walk around and check out the cars, or for a closer look, get tickets to the whole event. This really is the greatest city in Florida.

Aside from the events or exhibits mentioned above, there are countless restaurants in the area. One of my favorite date nights that I enjoyed with my girlfriend was when we went to the Morean Glass Studio and had lessons in blowing glass. I will spare you from my creation, but she made a really cool vase that is on display at our home. After that we had dinner at my friend's restaurant, Gratzzi. Seriously the best Italian in town.
For our last anniversary we walked around The Imagine Museum then had a beautiful dinner at The Urban Stillhouse... get their Old Fashion. This really is the best city in Florida.
